It’s a new year but it’s okay not to feel okay

Writer: Sewa AdebayoSewa Adebayo

Most people I know usually set goals each year, but now I’m seeing those same people decide to just go with the flow .....and that’s okay.

It’s okay if your not feeling okay, Life can be unpredictable and you can encounter many roadblocks and feel uncertain about so many things that come your way ......again... that’s okay.

You don’t have to have it all figured out. Just going with the motions and figuring things as you go along is totally fine. It’s just life and it does not mean you have failed or are a failure and you don't have to have it all figured out.

Everyone goes through something  and you just have to figure out your lane.

Most successful people have admitted to starting off on a rough patch to finally achieving their goals or aspirations.

Feeling stuck is a temporary phase to a situation you will be able to overcome eventually especially if you have access to the right resources to support.

For some it could be things like:

  • Feeling burnt out through work

  • Being unable to provide for their family

  • Not achieving your life goals

  • Relationship failures

  • Feeling burnt out in relationships or marriages due to misunderstandings

The list goes on …

I want you to understand that you are not alone and there is nothing you are experiencing that is particularly new, many people are facing something similar.

Here are some suggestions on what you can do:

  • Recognise your triggers

  • Change your environment and try out something you've alway wanted to do or keep active by exercising

  • Treat yourself

  • Don’t dwell on the situation

  • Take a step back to reflect

  • Write down your goals and slowly tick them off

  • Find a support network (friend(s)/family) you can rely on

  • Learn from others

  • Do something that brings you joy

Remember! It’s also okay not to do anything at all sometimes and don’t allow yourself to feel pressured.

Let me know how you are feeling in the comment section?
