Suffering in silence

Updated: May 7, 2022

Many people around the world suffer from various things or issues behind closed doors, I for one have been a victim of suffering in silence. I used to feel like it was better to keep my feelings to myself to avoid conflict or issues but eventually it became overwhelming and very lonely.

Suffering in silence could be due to many factors such as being scared about people's opinions, not wanting to hurt someone else's feelings, being judged or ashamed...the list goes on.

What tends to happen is we don't end up saying anything until it's too late.

Speaking up can be scary for some, so bottling up those emotions seems like an easy fix but it can also be very damaging to your health.

It is easy for anyone who is not walking in your shoes to tell you to talk to someone about it and it is understandable admitting you need help is not an easy thing to do, especially due to some of the stigma behind it.

So the easiest thing to do is to run away from your feelings and emotions but this is allowing the situation to get worse.

Do not be silent about your problems as this can become very damaging to your wellbeing, find a way to get it off your chest and seek a resolution before it is too late. You will find this could be therapeutic and you can potentially become yourself again.

For anyone who has notice a change in someone you know, be sensitive towards them as you never know what they maybe going through.

Have you been able to overcome suffering in silence, if so, would you like to share what you did?
